Our Story: A Legacy of Hope

Over a decade ago, Merle Wagler and his son Clayton drove past this building, and a dream was born. Merle, a man who saw potential and life in seemingly hopeless situations, envisioned a place for community and connection. Though the building wasn't for sale then, the dream never faded.

Tragically, Merle Wagler passed away on December 13, 2024. The very next day, his family discovered he had already made a down payment on the building, his offer accepted. Faced with a choice, they knew they had to honor his legacy and see his final project through.

This center is more than a building; it's the culmination of a father's dream and a family's promise to carry it forward.

A Vision for the Community

Merle's vision was clear: create a positive environment to prevent people from "taking a wrong turn." The Merle Murphy Community Center will be a vibrant recreational space for active sports, family reunions, and community events that foster connection and joy.

Beyond recreation, we will offer community support and classes for those who need help getting back on track. It will be a place of second chances, a hub of activity, and a testament to the idea that with a little faith and hard work, anything can be brought back to life.
